Power Airfryer Oven Review: Hands-On Testing!

The Power Airfryer Oven is a multifunctional oven in which food is baked with overheated air. Does it really work? Here’s my review of the Power Airfryer oven.

The Power Airfryer Oven is a deep fryer that can also be used as a spit and dryer. The official website of the product is powerairfryer.com, which was registered in January 2016. The screenshot below shows what the product page looked like in October 2017

The frying pan costs $159.96. The payment can be made in full or divided into 4 monthly installments of $39.99 USD. The available colour options are white, black or red. There’s an extra double offer of $40 on the second deep fryer. There are also various options for adding accessories and a 6-year protection plan for extra costs.  Delivery is free of charge for all offers. Includes 3 air hangers, 10 stainless steel skewers, extra large rotating filter basket, rotating skewer, drip tray, 3 recipe books and $100 meal vouchers. I saw a deep fryer equipped with the Power AirFryer oven at the local Bed Bath & Beyond for $160, and a 20% coupon dropped $32 on that price.

If you’ve had the pleasure of surfing the English Channel late at night or early in the morning, you may have recently noticed how Eric Taiss has served up his latest offer, the Power AirFryer oven. They say it’s a new generation deep-fat fryer that works like a normal oven.

In fact, a typical deep fryer uses a basket that is placed in place and its contents are then immersed in heated air. However, this appliance uses hangers or a skewer to expose the food to the heated air inside, so that the way the food comes into contact with the surface is not the same as in a normal deep fryer.

In the first series of tests, as you can see in the video below, I made Italian croutons, roast chicken, sausage and peppers, frozen fries and sun-dried tomatoes. Croutons were mentioned in the recipe guide and all that was needed was Italian bread, salt, pepper, olive oil and oregano. I cut the bread into cubes and cover it with a mixture. In the AirFryer oven it only took 8 minutes and they came out perfectly. In fact, the taste and texture is so pleasant that I will probably make these toasts in the future.

I followed the recipe for fried chicken, except that I replaced the spicy flour instead of using the coating in the brochure. After covering the chicken, I put it in the oven and pressed the button on the chicken. The temperature and time are automatically set to 40 minutes. I turned the three pallets after 10 minutes and tried to turn them again after 10 minutes, but I realised that the bars were too thick to put them on the lower support, so I had to leave them on the upper support. The top rack of the chicken was much crisper than the other two racks, although the whole chicken was cooked at the right temperature.

I wanted to try the rotisserie function, so I followed the recipe for sausage and pepper. To do this, I had to thread each sausage link with two different skewers and attach them to a grill. After I throw in some peppers, I put a skewer in the oven. The packaging contains a special tool that allows you to insert and remove the rotifer without burning your hands. At the first attempt, the skewer with the pepper slipped and fell to the bottom of the oven. After a new request, everything is cooked to perfection without any problems. The sausage had a nice crunchy texture on the outside, while it was juicy and evenly cooked on the inside.

One of the advertised features of the Power AirFryer oven is its ability to cook frozen foods, so I placed a small amount of frozen fries in a rotating sieve basket. The manual has a graph showing the expected time and temperature for the various common dishes, but I just pressed the roasting button and the oven automatically set the temperature to 400 degrees and the time to 15 minutes. I noticed that the fries lasted 5 minutes longer, but they turned out to be crispy and perfectly warm. I appreciated being able to set it and leave without having to turn the oven over or listen to the timer.

My last attempt was sun-dried tomatoes with a dehydration function according to the recipe manual. Although I followed the instructions, I never got the result I expected. The recipe took 10 hours at 145 degrees, but more than 16 hours later they were still not ready. I’ll try again, but I’ll change the recipe until I like it. Next time I will cut them into smaller pieces and remove some of the seeds. If I repeat this recipe, I’ll update this section so you know how it went.

There are many presets on the control panel to help you prepare a good meal, but you may need to experiment to adjust the settings to suit your needs.

A small problem I’ve had with the oven is that removing the bottom rack often forces me to close the hot oven door very tightly – often by touching it. I found it useful to lay the second oven glove flat on the door, or that using products such as Hot Hands also worked.

I just used a sponge and soapy water to clean the Power AirFryer deep fryer. The shelves and the drip tray were well cleaned, although the roast chicken left a rather hard crust that needed to be cleaned.

Three weeks later I recorded a second series for the next video (see below). Most things went well, including frozen pizzas, frozen chicken wings, salmon and shrimp. I wanted to make a whole chicken on a spit, but I couldn’t find a chicken small enough to fit in, so I made a game chicken instead. All I tried, but it didn’t really work, were the cookies, because the parchment paper I put them on seemed to have a negative effect on the air circulation. They didn’t cook uniform either. In addition, I have found it to be a reliable product for a number of applications.

In general I think the Power AirFryer is a worthy candidate in the deep fryer category, and it stands out because of its unique design. It may not be perfect, but the benefits far outweigh the limitations.

When I wrote this article in November 2017, I had just noticed a Power AirFryer stove on the Amazon, although there were not many comments. I would like to know if other consumers share my opinion about the product.


There is no shortage of quality fryers on the market, usually between $50 and $150. The Power AirFryer XL Fryer is another Eric Theiss deep fryer with a fairly fixed fuel consumption. If cost isn’t a factor, then this $250 Philips fryer model is the best in its class. On the other hand, this $70 Avalon Bay deep fryer seems to be more than enough for most users.
